Hello Lovelies!
For the first time in my life, the winter has had a huge affect on my skin. Its completely dried up, which I found odd as if anything my skin is usually oily. When I woke up yesterday owning there were areas of skin on my face that were actually peeling. I decided that I couldn't take it anymore, so with a shopping trip already planned for the day I headed out in search of hydration. I ended up buying some higher end skincare saviours and some Boots Essential skincare items which I thought I would give a whirl.
Firstly I want to apologise for the quality of these photos. The lighting at the moment is really bad, seeing as there is pretty much no natural light at all, simply because of the time of the year. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to photos and it really annoys me when they just aren't right, but I was eager to get this post up for you.
I decided that what I really needed was a new cleanser (as my favourite Clinique one has just hit bottom) and a heavy duty moisturiser, and I wanted both of them to inject some hydration into my battered looking skin. I headed straight to the skincare section in Boots, and was drawn in by the products created by A-Derma for extremely dry skin.
I picked up the Exomega Emollient Cleansing Oil and Emollient Balm. The Cleansing Oil is made for use in the shower but I've used it normally by just damping my skin before application. The Balm is a concentrated hydration product. You apply it to the areas of concern, although I've used it so far, sparingly, as a moisturiser. The balm is also designed to work on other dry areas all over the body so is a fairly versatile product. These products are heavy-duty hydration and I think that they will form part of my daily routine whilst the days are cold and harsh and become less prominent once hydration has been restored.
I also spotted the Boots Essentials range, which were on offer at 3 for £3. I picked up a Facial Toner, a Eye Make-up Remover Gel and a 3 Minute Clay Mask. Im hot expecting huge things form these products simply judging y the price, but I thought I'd give them a go. For all I know they could turn out to be miracle workers.
There are now 4 steps to my skincare routine, using these products:
Step 1: Cleanse
Using a two cotton wool pads, I take off the most of my eye makeup using the Eye Make-up Remover Gel from the Boots essential range. This is simply to rid my eyes of the heavier makeup.
Step 2: Deep Cleanse
I use the A-Derma Exomega Cleansing Oil to throughly clean my skin. I apply a small amount (a little goes a long way) To damp skin and remove it with hot water and a flannel.
Step 3: Tone
Next I tone using the Facial Toner. Its in a refreshing cucumber scent which leaves you feeling clean and fresh.
Step 4: Moisturise
Finally I moisturise using the Exomega Balm. I apply it directly to my driest area such as the sides of my nose, before spreading it over the rest of my skin.
Once my skin has become accustomed to the new routine I'll be sure to write a small review, so keep an eye out!
I'd love to know what you guys thought to this post! I've not done a skincare post before and would really appreciate your opinions, so drop a comment! Also don't forget to add me on Google+ and follow my blog on bloglovin!
